RightsTrade's screening room offers you peace of mind with secure DRM encryption, anti-piracy controls, and full analytics on screening activity.
Video Player Features
  • Studio-Grade Security: RightsTrade's screening room is fully integrated with Digital Rights Management (DRM), a level of security encryption which ensures that video playback only occurs on the authenticated video player.

  • Individual Tracking: all screeners are watermarked with the viewer’s name for each playback, the request to the stream is digitally signed and time-limited.  The stream uniform resource identifier (URI) will cease to be operational after the time limit expires.

  • Secure Storage: Utilizing our web hosting provider Amazon's Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) provides us with the same highly scalable, reliable, secure, fast infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of websites, as well as media companies such as Netflix.  Amazon S3 is compliant with the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) best practices for securely storing, processing, and delivering protected media and content.

To date, RightsTrade has delivered more than 400,000 secure screenings.

Video Player FAQs

What does DRM encryption mean?

RightsTrade's video player uses Digital Rights Management (DRM) encryption to ensure security of your video assets. DRM is a feature that controls access to copyrighted material. It fully secures your copyrighted assets and digital content to prevent piracy or unauthorized use.

How secure is the screening room?

To achieve the highest level of security possible, our backend security captures detailed information of each screener view. This information includes a unique user ID number, email address, device used, IP address and geo-targeting, allowing us to identify and trace every screening that occurs.

Every RightsTrade screener is also secured by the following mechanisms:

  1. A screener requires an AUTHORIZATION be granted to the viewing user by any SELLER/ADMIN at the rights-holding company.
  2. The AUTHORIZATION is tied to the viewer’s account credentials (username/password)
  3. The AUTHORIZATION is time-limited to a specified date-range and access can be limited down to the minute
  4. The AUTHORIZATION can optionally be limited to a certain number of views
  5. The AUTHORIZATION can be optionally limited to a certain number of “devices” (browser/computer combination). So for example, you can limit the authorization to only three devices (eg: Work computer, home computer, and iPad). If the user tries to view on a fourth device, they will be unable.
Our advanced security features also include watermarking of the buyers name across the screener, the size and placement of which can be preset by the sales company. Our screening room is powered by Amazon S3, the leading web-services interface developed by Amazon Web Services to store and retrieve any data from the web. Amazon S3 is compliant with the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) set of best practices for securely storing, processing, and delivering protected media and content.

I'm having trouble viewing my screener

Please try the following troubleshooting tips:

  • Please make sure nothing else is utilizing your bandwidth. If you have other internet applications that are doing a good amount of processing, it can sometimes slow down streaming video.
  • It is possible your session has timed out. Please try refreshing your page or logging out and logging back in to restart a session.
  • Your authorization may have expired. Sellers can determine how many views a user is allotted. You may have surpassed your view limit.
  • Ensure that your download connection speed is at least 2 Mbps.
  • Pause your video if you experience repeated buffering.
  • Jumping ahead early in the viewing session may cause buffering. When jumping forward, you will have better results by clicking on the timeline rather than dragging the playbar.

Why can't I see a video/ why do I receive an error message in the screening room?

The security standards of our player, including the enhanced DRM security, do not allow certain browsers or devices to play the video if they compromise security of the asset. If you are trying to access the screening room from Chrome on an iOS Device (ex. iPad OS12), Linux OS, or trying to view using an older version of Internet Explorer (IE10 and older), you will need to use another browser or device. If you would like to update your Internet Explorer to the latest version, you can do so here.

How do I know my password?

RightsTrade authentication is attached to a viewer’s account credentials (not screener assets themselves). If this is your first time viewing a RightsTrade screener, you will need to quickly register your email and create a password. Passwords on RightsTrade are linked to your email address, and managed by you directly.

If you need to reset your password, you can visit this page.

Be sure to make note of the password you create. In the future, any screeners that you receive on RightsTrade can be accessed by using the same password.
