How do I register as a buyer?


It’s easy and buyer registration is free. Click on register, type in and verify your e-mail address and create your profile. Follow the instructions to create your user and company profile. You will be notified by our team once you have been officially vetted. You can also start your registration when receiving a screening invitation. You will be prompted to create a user name and password and this will enable you to access your screeners.




How do I get access to buyer features?


As an online marketplace of vetted and trusted industry professionals, we encourage all users to associate themselves to an already registered company or to register their company on our site. All users and companies will be vetted for accuracy to ensure that they are representing legitimate organizations.




How do I request a screener?


Once you have conducted a title search, simply click on the REQUEST SCREENER button. Your request will be sent to the sales company, and they will be able to approve your request and send you a screener invitation. Screeners are requested individually, and access may be granted or denied by the Seller. RightsTrade supports viewing on desktop, mobile and tablet devices.




For how long can I access a screener?


Sellers can limit access to screeners by time, views, and devices as specified on your screener invitation. In case your screener access expires, you will be presented with an option to request an extension. If your screener expires, you can click on the "Request Extension" button to directly request more time on a screener.




My screener is not playing. What should I do?


If you encounter any screening performance issues we suggest that you check our "Viewing Tips". If that doesn’t help resolve the issue, you can contact us by clicking on the "Report a problem" tab in your Screening Room or directly at feedback@rightstrade.com.

In terms of quick solutions, we usually ask that users try any of the following:
Log out and back in (sometimes if there's a period of inactivity, you will be signed out of your session)
Try a different browser - we typically recommend Chrome, and ensuring that you have Flash enabled
Pause the video before proceeding to allow the title to load some
Make sure nothing else is utilizing your bandwidth. If you have other internet applications that are doing a good amount of processing, it can sometimes slow down streaming video




Can I share my screening invitations with my colleagues?


Your credentials are private and intended for your use only. Sharing them would be in conflict with the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy of your registration. Your colleagues may register separate accounts and create their own credentials for participation on the platform.




How do I keep track of titles I am interested in?


You can track available content with its license type by selecting a title on RightSearch and adding it to your Shopping List. Also, from any Title page, you can click on the ADD TO TRACKING LIST button to track a title in general.




How do I know if a title is available in my territories?


RightSearch™, our database of rights availabilities, allows you to search titles by territory of origin, platform, acquisition regions, genre, and more. You can also click on the CHECK AVAILABILITY button on any title page to find out more specific availability for your vetted territories.




How do I search for content?


There are a number of ways that you can find content on RightsTrade: 1. Search Bar: use the search bar at the top of the RightsTrade site and type in a relevant keyword to find a specific title 2. Company Page: select a company of interest and search their catalog by the filter on the left side of their page 3. RightSearch: navigate to RightSearch under Browse, and use this tool to search through 850k+ avails. Specify regions/rights/ metadata (genre/project type/etc.) conditions for titles you would like to acquire. Receive RightSearch™ results, select titles of interest, and click “Make Inquiry” to send a message to the seller.




Is there any cost for being a buyer on RightsTrade?


No, registration on the platform is free for buyers.




Can you help me find niche content?


Yes, RightsTrade offers a Buyer Concierge service to help you locate hard-to-find content. With the RightsTrade Buyer Concierge, you can receive content suggestions based on the content that works best for you. This complimentary service allows you to save time on finding titles and leverage RightsTrade's rich library of more than 850,000 avails. Reach out to info@rightstrade.com for more information.




How do I contact sellers on RightsTrade?


Make An Inquiry: If you would like to ask sellers about prices, terms, and other information, press "Make Inquiry" on a Title Page or on a title you find through RightSearch. You can peronalize the message with more information about your company and your acquisition profile. Screener Request: You can also ask for a screener by pressing on the "Request Screener" button on any title page.




Can I complete a deal on RightsTrade?


Yes, you can. Buyers and Sellers have access to our Deal Wizard for defining licensing terms and can e-sign and download final agreements online. We are also integrated with DocuSign. Contact us at feedback@rightstrade.com for more information on this and other tools.

Can I use RightsTrade without being associated to a company?


As an online marketplace of vetted and trusted industry professionals, we encourage all users to associate themselves with an already registered company or to register their company on our site. We want to ensure the integrity and reliability of the RightsTrade marketplace. Although you can postpone this step, as a user with no associated company you will not be able to access all of the RightsTrade features.




Can I share or transfer my account?


As an online marketplace of vetted and trusted industry professionals we want to make sure that you know who you are dealing with. Accounts are personal and may not be shared or transferred without our permission. Doing so is in conflict with the Terms & Conditions of your registration. Can I have more than one account?


Each member account is associated to an email address and a member company, which will require the approval of the company administrator. You can only have multiple accounts associated with different companies as long as you provide separate emails and receive the required permissions from the corresponding company administrators.




How do I know if I am considered a seller or a buyer under RightsTrade criteria?


If you are a content owner, rightsholder, or authorized sales representative in the business of licensing media distribution rights, you are a seller. If you are a member of a vetted company that is in the business of acquiring media rights to distribute or sub-distribute in at least one audio-visual medium, you are a buyer. If you are representing a film festival, a media outlet or any other business related to the media and entertainment industry, there is a place for you on RightsTrade. By generating your company profile, you and your organization will be searchable entities within the platform. Any seller will be able to send you screeners.




How do I register my user account?

How do I register my company?


Once you register as a RightsTrade member, you will be asked to create a new company profile or associate your profile to an already registered company. The information you provide will help us vet your company. Once your company application has been verified and approved, you will become the company administrator.




How can I edit/update my company profile?


Only company administrators are allowed to edit company profiles and settings. You can edit your company profile by accessing the "Company Profile" menu. From here you will be able to edit all fields except for "Company Name" and "Company Activities." You can contact us at info@rightstrade.com and we will vet those fields.




What can a company administrator do?


As a company administrator you will be allowed to edit your company profile and settings, assign roles, approve membership requests, remove members from your company, and define and edit notifications that every company member receives.




How do I become a company administrator?


When registering your company for the first time, you will automatically become the company administrator. You can also be assigned as company administrator by other company administrators.
